Gyotaku taken to the next level......

Gyotaku fish prints created by lathering fish with ink and making print on rice paper are everywhere. The artist brushes in color where necessary to add detail to the fish print. Artists charge a lot of money for the original print on rice paper but make many reproductions of original.

In my method I take a photo of the fish on the back deck right out of the ocean before it dies and subsequently loses its color.  So the colors in my image are exactly what that fish looked like as it came out of the ocean, unlike the interpretation of color by the traditional gyotaku fish prints.
