JUSTIN BURKLE PHOTOGRAPHY

Everyone is a photographer these days snapping photos at every opportunity with their smart phone. With my photography I attempt to capture high resolution images and gain perspective from obscure angles. Furthermore in an attempt to diversify my work from the norm and add value, I add in a painted border and handwritten anecdote pertaining to the subject matter. This layered look allows me to express myself and creates a truly unique piece of art.

THE PROCESS

All work is completed in house at my workshop in East Hampton. Image is printed on Epson 9900 printer using Canvas/Satin paper. The image is then mounted on Duraply where paint and handwriting is added to create a layered look. To complete the artwork a piece of glass/plexi is cut and a frame is fabricated from poplar/fir/cedar. All artwork is made specifically for you. Please allow 2 weeks to complete.

“Turtle Cove at the end of Long Island gets its name from the hill where the lighthouse today stands. Before years of wind, rain and waves transformed ‘turtle hill’ to what we know today, the hill resembled a turtle’s back to the first European settlers in the 1600’s.. The orientation of the coastline towards the point makes it a magnet for drawing in swells but also makes it more vulnerable to the effects of wind and current. The conditions that make this wave work is learned over years of experience.”
